County Health Ratings in Kansas
February 19, 2010
On February 17, 2010, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin's Public Health Institute released 50 state reports that rank counties within each state on overall health outcomes, as well as on factors influencing those outcomes. Adult smoking rates are one of those indicators. This local data may be useful for raising awareness of the impact of tobacco use on health. The data can be used to show the impact of tobacco control measures in local communities, as well as the need for additional and sustained interventions like funding for tobacco prevention and cessation programs (particularly the community based component), tobacco taxes, and smoke-free laws.
